The term Ayurveda is composed of two Sanskrit words – Ayu meaning life & Veda meaning knowledge or science. This “Science of Life” originated in India over 5000 years ago, making it one of the world’s oldest health care systems. It has carefully examined every sort of disease and life condition and the impact on health and well-being. It contains an intricate and sophisticated system of anatomy and physiology that follows a vitalistic model of health. It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realising their full human potential.
Ayurveda looks upon the human being as an inseparable and mutually interconnected complex of body, vital energy, mind and soul. It does not focus on symptoms themselves, but mostly on the causes of imbalance, which proceeds every disease. A symptom is regarded only as a signal or warning that there is something wrong with the body and that a deeper level of correction is needed. Thus in accordance with healthy lifestyle principles Ayurveda tries to restore the natural state of harmony through proper diet and seasonal lifestyle regimes.
Following an individual tailored program of positive change to include proper diet/lifestyle regimes and regular herb usage it is possible to remove various health problems. Ayurveda can assist with the treatment of long-lasting illnesses such as skin diseases respiratory problems digestive disorders, migraines, obesity, blood circulation problems, gynaecological difficulties, joint and muscle illnesses, insomnia, fatigue and stress.
Ayurveda uses a holistic and simple form of healing approach, which aims to know oneself to reveal deeper causes of one’s health conditions. It is not a one size fits all but rather the individual is taken into careful consideration. One persons medicine may be another’s poison.
At Sun Centre Ayurveda we strive to gain insight into the very core of the problem and discover the primary cause of the ailment whether it originates in improper diet, lifestyle, hereditary, negative thinking or emotional imbalances.
